The ending was everything you would hope it to be! Cass’s books are always fun, light reads and this one is just as wonderful as the first 3 books in this series. I loved seeing all these relationships grow because it showed how much Eadlyn has always loved those around her, especially the people of Illea. I just loved it all, and I just realized how much I will truly miss reading about them.Īs the story continues, we see more of Eadlyn’s relationships with everyone, not just her family or the Elite, but more of her friendships with Neena and even Josie. I was happy to see their family work on being better together. I was happy to see Maxon and America acting like Maxon and America. There are more family moments and I loved every minute of those scenes! I was happy to see more of Eadlyn’s siblings Ahren, Kaden, and Osten. So much of the past is addressed through this book, and I couldn’t help but love Kiera Cass for including all of it. She completely grows up, although she does make mistakes still, but she becomes relatable. I appreciated who she was now thanks to who she was when her Selection first began. So, I wasn’t surprised how lovely she was in The Crown. This book does not fail to deliver in the romance aspect of it, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!Īt the end of the last book, I saw Eadlyn beginning to mature and appreciate things in a different light than when we first met her. Every date or interaction Eadlyn has with one of them is really sweet. Like I said, we get to know all of the boys a little better. Of course Eadlyn has her daily work as queen, but she still manages to make time to spend with the boys as well.
I really appreciated how well the politics of this story was mixed in with the romance. We learn more about what happened once Maxon became king and how the caste system came to be what it is now. There is definitely more politics in this book, and it was all very intriguing. Part of Eadlyn’s new responsibilities include making decisions regarding Illea, and she soon realizes what a tough job being queen really will be. I’m not going to spoil who exactly Eadlyn chooses to keep, but if you paid attention in The Heir then her choices won’t surprise you, and I think you’ll be happy with them. I was really happy that Eadlyn chose to slim down her suitors because this gave her, and the readers, a chance to actually get to know these boys a little better. Her first order of business is to slim down her suitors in the Selection, so now there are only 6 boys remaining in the Elite. The book begins the morning after where we left off in The Heir. Eadlyn has been left to deal with the aftermath of that horrible night, and she is now responsible for taking on more of an every day work-load. and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible – and more important – than she ever imagined. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you.
